About Dan Barone

Dan Barone has lived in Naples since his parents moved his family here in 1991. He grew up in Naples and has seen Naples undergo many transformations, but none of which have changed his love for the city. Naples is where he met his wife, is now raising his children, running his business, and giving his time through volunteer work and community involvement. Dan's passion for the Naples community, along with his enthusiasm for enhancing and shaping the city's future, motivates him to run for Naples City Council.

Dan is an alumnus of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School, St. Ann Catholic School, and Naples High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Florida in 2004 and in 2022 he furthered his education with an MBA from the Florida Gulf Coast University with a focus on data analytics. During his undergraduate studies, he also obtained his real estate broker’s license. After graduating from the University of Florida, Dan returned home to Naples and served as Chief Financial Officer for his family’s construction company and started a real estate firm.

Simultaneously, Dan began a financial consultation firm for local businesses, and that is where he found his niche. In 2020 his consulting company became his full-time focus, leading to the formation of his current firm, Barone & Cola CPAs. His firm specializes in small business consulting and operational accounting in addition to tax preparation and planning. As the Vice President of Barone & Cola CPAs, Dan collaborates closely with clients to cultivate trusting relationships to provide fractional CFO-level guidance. He and his company are enthusiastic about growing and addressing future challenges, all while providing support to the leaders of our community’s small businesses.

Dan’s local community involvement began after graduation from the University of Florida. For over a decade, he was a volunteer coach for the Naples High School Cross Country and Track teams. When his children became school-aged, he began volunteer work with Lake Park Elementary (LPE) and Gulfview Middle School (GVMS). He currently serves on the LPE Parent Teacher Organization (“PTO”) board as past treasurer, LPE School Advisory Committee (“SAC”), GVMS PTO as Treasurer, and GVMS SAC. Dan is also proud to be a founding member of his local neighborhood association, Sun Terrace Neighborhood Association and was on the inaugural board as Vice President. His work with the association ensured Sun Terrace’s inclusion in the City of Naples governance. For the first time and moving forward, his neighborhood association is now able to be a member of the city’s President Council. In 2024, Dan was selected and began serving on both the Audit Committee for Collier County Public Schools and the Planning Advisory Board for the City of Naples. Most recently he was a member of the Class of 2025 of Leadership Collier.

Dan enjoys traveling, especially cruising, and spending time with his wife, Cassie, their two daughters, Lorelai and Shalane. When the family is traveling, they are always eager to get back to Naples for their dog and cat, Loki and Thor. Dan enjoys being active and is an avid runner when his body allows for it. You might spot him on a run around town, and he would be thrilled for everyone to join the team in running this city together.

1. Lead with Common Sense Governance

Naples Airport – Turbulence at the Top

Council’s conflict with the Airport Authority has fueled costly lawsuits and uncertainty. Residents face growing noise and traffic with no clear plan despite high legal spending. Let’s support our well-run airport and focus City Council efforts on partnership, not politics.

Naples Pier – Rebuild the Landmark, Reclaim Our Shore.

Three years after Hurricane Ian, the full reconstruction of the Naples Pier remains stalled pending final FEMA funding. If approved by year-end, the 18–24 month rebuild should finally begin. The City Council must make this a top priority to restore our iconic shoreline.

Resiliency and Stormwater – Stop the Delays, Save the Dollars

Delays in resiliency projects have driven up costs and jeopardized critical stormwater infrastructure. The City Council must act now to advance citywide improvements and protect both our budget and our community.

2. Promote Positive and Intentional Staff Culture

City Council Meetings – Respect Time, Respect the City

Council meetings often drag on due to personal opinions overriding expert reports. This inefficiency delays progress and undermines trust. Council must focus on the agenda, make timely decisions, and model respect for staff and residents.

City Leadership Consistency – Stable Leadership, Steady Progress

Frequent leadership changes stall projects, paralyze staff, and erode institutional knowledge. The City Council must prioritize stability and succession planning to ensure consistent progress.

City Careers and Retention – Invest in Our People, Invest in Our City

High turnover drains experience, morale, and service quality. The city must improve workplace culture, compensation, and career growth to retain talent and strengthen services to residents.

3. Prioritize Residents Needs

Residents First, City Best

Put residents first by protecting home rule and property owners’ rights over special interests. A residents-first approach strengthens the entire community.

Simplify City Processes

Complicated permitting adds months of delay and unnecessary costs, discouraging investment. Streamlining processes would make it easier and more affordable for residents to improve their properties.

City/County Fair Share with a Shared Future

Naples contributes 25% of the county’s property tax value but receives only 14% of taxes collected. The city must collaborate with the county for fair funding, coordinated planning, and shared growth.

4. Instill Accountability and Responsibility

City Budget – Tax Revenue is Up, Let’s Invest in What Matters

Taxable revenue has more than doubled in 20 years, yet services haven’t kept pace. The city must reinvest in core services, planning, and transparency—while cutting waste, lawsuits, and excess consultants.

Stewardship – Lead with Trust and Accountability

Council’s duty is to be responsible stewards of the community—prioritizing residents’ interests, maintaining integrity, and guiding the city without micromanaging.

Protecting Naples’ Property Values – Keep Naples Premier

Naples’ appeal as a world-class destination drives its property values. Protecting that status means investing in resident experience, visitor appeal, and thoughtful long-term planning

5. Focus on the Future

Public Safety & Infrastructure – Secure Today, Ready for Tomorrow

To stay ahead of growth, Naples must plan now for future police, fire, and infrastructure needs. Investing today ensures safety and capacity for the next generation.

Comprehensive Plan – Plan for Resilience, Secure the Future

Updating Naples’ Comprehensive Plan is vital to guide the next two decades. The plan being built now must balance redevelopment with character, strengthen resilience, and manage growth wisely.

My Perspective – New Energy, Real Representation

I bring the urgency and energy to refocus City Council on what matters most—its residents. It’s time for leadership that listens, represents, and acts for the people of Naples.
